I've seen planes and choppers spraying around here, but now, it seems most use high wheel boom sprayers.
Planes can only be used to apply fungicides and the near all spraying is herbicide or liquid fertilizer. That never should never be done with a plane.

When the "Terragators" or "Big A's" started showing up in that changed the spraying game.

Now they rot away.

A few years ago we have some hail and hired a neighbor with a Hagie sprayer to apply it. I rode with for a few tanks and going through 10’ tall corn was really neat. The dang thing was an absolute pollen mess before too long but it did the job and the corn was better because of it.

A buddy and I are going through the aerial drone spray process right now. It may turn out to be more red tape than we want to tackle. We’ll know soon enough. It’ll be around $150k to get setup but it pays quite well.

I got Chase’s neighbors beans (90 acres ) knocked out yesterday/last night. That leaves about 200 for him but the hay has to be taken off first.

Chase wanted to know if I wanted to do some custom planting, although it’s good money, I told him no. Any other year I would of been all over it.

I told him a week ago that when we got his neighbors done I was going to help my brother.

So today I raked 30 acres of hay, worked in some ditches & rotary harrowed 70 acres for him. I believe he has around 300 acres of beans left & around 1000 acres of corn.

Guessers are barking about rain thru next Wednesday, they were calling 1”-2” tonight & have now backed it down to 1/4”

Gotta love that 86 series. If the transmissions weren’t so horrid I bet IH would still be making tractors. Just about everything else about them is great. Sure do love my 886 !!

That’s a 1486. Original engine and transmission. Put a few T/A in her and clutch is end of life but solid machine. I wouldn’t wanna guess the hours on it. I’ve put 1000s on it myself

No significant rain here overnight, we had a few sprinkles around 11:30. Barkers are saying maybe this afternoon, overcast all day.

They got any where from .50” - 1.50” to the south & west of us.

Going to drive over about some ground to see if it’s dry enough to disk.
Apparently my cousin was planter beans about 6 miles NW of me last night & got rained out.

My brother just called & was west of town, said the pavement was wet but wasn’t sure how much it rained there, he was going to look that over.

I doubt there will be any hay baling for Dad today so we should have plenty of help for disking, filling ditches & rotary harrowing.

That’s how my 22 hr day started & ended @ 6:30am this morning with a 3/4 mile hike to the house as the fuel gauge in my brothers tractor is less than accurate

This is what I had left.

We got the trench for the irrigator pipe dug and pipe and power wire installed today and yesterday. Feels good to be done with this.
