Is beef high right now? I mean compared to everything else.
Pairs have come down a bit lately but they have been pretty high most of the year around here.

400# calves were bringing around $3.50# in early fall. IIRC pairs were in the $2400-$2600 range or more. I will talk to my brother & see what the market is now around here.

Gathering to discuss recent events.
Two of the ladies were in distress today, one had to be saved by the tall loud ugly biped mammal.

The "Orphan" lady got carried away by all the beautiful mud and went 4-5 rows deep into the fresh plowed field in the middle of a ice rain.
She ended up with so much mud stuck to her flat feet she couldn't lift them anymore.
Little bird was so exhausted trying to move she didn't even flinch when I came and got her out of the field.
Crazy little birds, I love them. :icon12:
They will remain locked in the spacious back yard for now as I don't want to worry about them every second of the day.

The Indian Runner Ducks and the Silkie Chicken like to hang out.
We think it has something to do with safety in numbers.
We do have a healthy population of birds of prey in my area.
The Silkie cock and the two male ducks are very cautious and always watch the skies.

My Runner Ducks helping with the cleanup, no grub goes to waste.
She got up there in two hops, but then seemed a bit confused as to how to get back down.
She ended up sliding down two logs on her butt, never even tried to utilize her wings, neither up nor down.
Funny birds! :enamorado:

Welcome to ope.
Thanks for letting me in !! Glad to be here :beer-toast1:

Nice grinder. Welcome
This one is definitely a good looker at 100’ or so. It’s got a lot of loads through it and lots of patches and repairs over the years. Got it from a hog farm that used it to grind 45 loads a week from 1991-2006 and I’ve used it for roughly 4 loads a week since. So give or take 5 million bushels of corn have been through it !! Bonkers really.

The mini steaks always like when the kiddos come out to help in the barn.

Well, both of my bee colonies perished this winter. I treated for mites in late fall, but never re-tested them to see if what I did was sufficient. It appears it was not enough. Varroa mites are nasty, and I am upset.

As far as I can tell, the numbers in the colony dropped due to fighting the mites and their associated diseases, and they couldn't stay warm enough in the negative temperatures. Pretrt disappointing pulling 2 hives in, with ample food stores, and seeing the bees frozen to death. They gave me alot of enjoyment last year and I failed them as their keeper 😔

Sometimes learning sucks

That sucks, I have a friend that lost a couple hives to mites a couple years ago.

I can see how that could happen. And you have plenty of other things to do, aside from babysitting a box full of bugs with your farm and other buisness ventures

I pre-ordered two more Nucs of a different breed. Gonna try again.
