Working on a Vermeer 555xl for my brother in law. Need to loosen the belts. Anyone know how to do it, or know where I can get a owner's manual? Vermeer says manuals aren't available for it. Too old.

I think my brother used to have one of those, when I see him today I will ask.

It’s been several years since he had the XL.
My brothers was a regular XL but he figured they were the same design, he said his L was the same process as the XL for taking the tension off as far as he can remember.

You need to back the air pressure off, have the gate open & there should be a bar or rod that you slide in to let the tension roller down onto as you lower the gate. This should take the tension off.

You can also use a come along & loop under the tension roller & over the top roller to reduce the tension.

So....sorta like my Heston, only it has a spot for pins to stop the tension arms. Thank you !!!

We missed the severe storms last night, tornados, heavy rains & hail off to the west & northwest.

I had some pea/marble sized hail but not much & .99” of rain

Here is a couple of whoppers that were in the nasty stuff.

Getting some white showing up on most of the calves this time around. Not sure if I will keep some of these or not. Checking on them every morning before work. Looks like I need to check at night as well. Might have a chance to catch them easier.

Windshields, house windows, siding & pretty damn hard on roofing & vehicles as well. I believe they said they had tennis ball sized hail in that storm which is what that looks like. A 5-10 heavy hailstorm with marble sized hail will dent the hell out of a vehicle & do roof damage.

We try to band and tag them as soon as we can catch them. Caught last three tonight and got the bulls banded, but didn't get a tag on one. Saw an older one that got moved out to the house that is still a bull. I will run it through the corral and use the larger bander on it.
