Agree with Steve thanks for sharing these photos and a step back in time
Would be great I remember our neighbour had a Massey Harris 635
Bagging combine and the bags where called west of England hessian sacks
I think they where about 1.5 hundred weight as kids we always helped patched up the bags with copydex where the rats had made holes

Are you creating hedgerows? Would love to make some on my small farm. Seems kinda labor intensive, but great habitat.

yes that’s the plan cutting out and laying too bring it back too life again
They will let the hedge alone for two seasons then lightly flail on the 3rd season
There’s quite a few species here white oak , black thorn, quick thorn , hazel
Willow , dog rose , Alder , Rowan, silver birch , red birch , beech and plenty of briars

it is time consuming but two of us have done abut 190 yds the last two days

It's rewarding restoring hedges
It's good old fashioned hard work
No technology

So you cut them back, let them sucker, the flail mow them again? What does the flail mowing do, allow more suckering?

What’s everyone up too apart from feeding and bedding anything new
Going on
Nothing really happens here, been getting quite a bit of rain, but temps are mild. (Which is why I moved here). Days are starting to noticably get longer. Field are actually greening some. Maybe we will have an early spring. Trying to use up most of the round hay bales, so much waste! Looks like we have too many square bales again. Leftovers will be first fed next year.

Been cutting way more wood than I need per year. Trees fall, so they get cut up for firewood. Trying stay off equipment during this wet season as much as possible. Saw fixing, building things out of wood.

Hauling corn & smoking cigars

My buddy Chase had his knee worked on so I have been helping his FIL chore. The hay buyer came up with some money so I will be loading out some hay tomorrow.

That viaje oro is a very good one. Best I’ve had this year. I think they’re discontinued but viaje makes some good smokes. I don’t know much about Cubans but I’ve got maybe 20-25 laying around. The price has went ridiculous on them. I’ve got a fairly large collection (that I plan to smoke all of) “boutique seconds” are excellent for the money. Think they’re from cigar federation. If you google that it should hit what I’m talking about. I smoke from absolute top shelf to bundle smokes. Know more about cigars than chainsaws
