Looks like fairly good corn just in the picture ? We never had many of the red corn heads. We put green ones on the red bine even I've worked on a red corn head enough Worked on the green one enough too John deere had the corn head right back in the day we didn't pay too much at all for the head I'm using it's bent up and wore out but it does still pick corn and haven't had any major issues with it cept clutches that burnt off in the grass and weedy *s-word I shouldn't have been trying to pick in anyhow

Not really. Chopped the corn in August. I won't do rye for pasture anymore. Can't stay ahead of it in the spring.

Never did much grazing of wheat or rye, But we did combine rye for seed back in the 70's. I think it was Wheeler rye. Then no-till corn after we square bale the straw. He also chopped a lot of rye and wheat for the harvestore silos. As I had to run the spray rig spraying ( paraquat ) Princep, and Atrazine with a open station 3020 john deere and a 400 gallon john blue spray rig. Also had a john deere 105 combine, Imagine running that today!!

Wish I had that nice stuff 40 years ago. I did ride on a axial flow up in Delaware one time. Very nice machine. I did get to run a 915 for a couple weeks back in 1983, better than running my Gleaner G but not as good as the gleaner L 3 , Back then the L 3 was a good machine IMO. Also ran a john deere 6620 and a 4420, and old 3300 two row, the 105, 4 row and a gleaner M 2. We had two Gleaner Gs back in the early eighty's one 6 row narrow, and a 4 row wide, which is the one in the picture doing beans. ( No AC either )

So you guys enjoy running those nice combines! :D

Couple more old ones for you guys. That is a 10 row 20" John Deere planter behind the 986 IH. The sprayer is being pulled with a 1466. The 1855 Oliver and the 350 john deere track loader in the back ground I am using to burn a couple old barns at another farm back in 1982 or 1983.

How many shank that ol Oliver pull

12 shanks with 4" twisted shovels with the wheels set at 11" . I put almost 12 grand in the Waukesha engine back then when daddy twisted the crank in half. And Dominion Diesel worked with me on the injector pump to get the HP up to 145 on the dyno. before we had a pull that fall. That is a late model engine with the oil cooler on it for the turbo. The tractor is a 1975 1855 with the 1955 T engine in it. The earlier models didn't have the oil cooler on them which over heated the turbos. Under load the tractor would smoke like the barn burning in the picture. Very much fun to drive back in the day! Will try to update a new pic. This is all she does any more. Maybe 30 hrs. a year.

I imagine it's got the updated rod bolts also?

Can't remember that far back, around 1980 or 81. We did have to line bore the block and used all new rods and bolts. Main bolts also I believe. Also a lot of head work, new injectors, new turbo which has been replaced twice since then. And of course a new crank shaft. The main $$$ back then. And while down did a new clutch and pressure plate also, and the hydra power seal. And the pump rebuild, Which has also been done two times since then.
