Ain't making no wheat straw out of the stubble?
Not that field..
All the fields on the holiday place need beans poked in them by July 15..
so that’s what Luke should be doing today till he gets rained off. He’ll no till 15” rows most likely.
We got about 2500 square bales of straw from the first field we ran. That’ll have to do for this year.
Weather has not been very agreeable..
semi has been stuck twice this year, and Jean had an ass pucker moment yesterday in the combine.
Fortunately, did not stick it. Those can be a mess..

I can see that. Wheat fields ain't got the sod like a hay field...so burying up is always a concern.

This is the contraption we use to pick up straw bales in the field.
Still gotta unload trucks and trailers by hand.

A fella I built a house for a few years ago had a proper setup for small squares. One of those on the tractor in the field, and another at the barn. Of course he also owns the surgery center in Crossville, and wasn't concerned about having to buy equipment. 1800 acres of hobby farm.

The weather has started day drinking. Its gonna get even crazier I'm afraid.
I wish I could call that “unusual”..

We don’t like it, but I’ve seen downpours here in tornado alley that left 7” in 2 hours..

I’d bet Tony in Neosho has seen heavier.. just south of here tends to get some real doozies..
Seems to temper a bit as you go north but even they get torrential rains from time to time.

I ended up with 8.5" on that last go around over 5 days. One of the strange things I have noticed it that it tends to follow I-44 more now a days. Joplin tornado followed it and ended up just 1/2 mile north of the house.

I have noticed that too Tony. I'm only 20 miles from I-44. I remember you telling me about that when we where down there. Chilling! 1/2 mile is too damn close when that thing was a mile wide!

Picked up debris from three so far since I have been here. Had one go through south of Seneca, Neosho and Granby. Tip of one just missed the house I think based on damage to neighbors barn and the sound of it during the night. Had someone over to dig new water line that day and I woke up in the night wondering why the guy was back running heavy equipment.

I know I have shown the roof tin in the tree 20 feet from the house from the one that went in the back yard. Inlaws not so lucky. Peeled their roof off like a sardine can.

Tornadoes scare me.
And they rightly should. Completely unpredictable with little warning to their arrival.
Back in 98 one passed through Mechanicville. It was an F4. Destroyed many homes and more. Also picked up an empty 30 yrd dumpster and stuffed it through a concrete block wall. It also picked up an older 2 story house and reset it on it's foundation diagonally.

We had one this year. Mile or two from here. When hurricane/ tropical storms come through here they typically spawn off some nasty ones. They seem to be coming more frequently last several years.

Im not a fan either.

We have been enjoying several years of relief from the constant Nader warnings every other evening like we had a few years back..
It was maddening, and eventually you just don’t care any more and ignore the weather dorks...

Busy today. Moved 55 junk 4x4s to fill holes and other crevasses around the property. Uncovered a nest of snake eggs? Found a big snake skin in the same pile. Found a new hole after I drove across it and stope just before I ran the rear wheels over it with the big bush hog on the back. Definitely would have swallowed the rear tire.
