Did layout. Alarm set for 1AM to drop it all. Then on to work and back home for the neighbors 20 acres just 1/2 mile down the road.
There needs to be a single word description for the smell of drying hay. South wind when I got home yesterday, getting ready for round two, brought up that smell from the fields. Petrichor is the smell of rain on dirt. That smell that accompanies summer showers. Maybe I'm just off a bit from the 22 hour day yesterday.
"Real job" to go to in just a bit. No rest for the wicked.I really enjoy the smell of drying hay. Baled hay is my favorite. They should make a truck air freshener "just baled".
Now get some sleep!![]()

Just call in and say your tummy hurts like all the kids i work with.
Grass looks good, ours will be ready to knock down by months endView attachment 243575 View attachment 243576 View attachment 243577 View attachment 243578 View attachment 243579 We were able to get all the hay up before it rained over 1/2 inch or so. I just made 12 rounds to try out the baler and the rest were small squares. Now we just need to wait for the next good weather window for the next 100+ acres.

This is what the real job that pays for the farm is. Don't call in very often unless I absolutely am so sick I can't do anything. Spent 10 1/2 hours in one today.
