The side chain tensioner was a big hit back in 1983/'84 with the 024/034. But the earliest 024 in '82 did have the front tensioner.
There was a odd duck 034 WoodBoss in the early 1990's that had a front tensioner. Had one of those come through my shop.

The 72cc 1988 044AV was Hans Peter Stihl's baby. That saw was the game changer in the industry in my opinion.
Yes. Just talked to a retired arborist and he basically said the same. He’s a fan of 044s and has a few carcasses I’d like to get my hands on.

My o64 number starts out 11779, so yours is likely younger than mine is. Not sure how you showed this Pic without removing the muffler. The muffler hides much of the serial number on my 064.

My biggest squawk is that the compression is so high that it's a bear cat for me to start cold. My logger buddy laughed and dropped started it in nothing flat like a top handle pruning saw. He also does one-arm push ups. After he did he said, "Edwin, don't ever sell this saw."

Care to post a picture of that saw? I would like to see the muffler.

Nice saw man. On the subject of carbs, what ones are good and what ones do you guys have on yours? Seems like there was a gazzillion different ones. I have a wj41 on my saw I think. Runs good.

I’ve seen the WJ41 on some early 066’s. Not a thing wrong with them. I have a friend that bought his red light brand new. His came with a 41 from the factory. I’m not sure if they are jetted different or not. I’ve got two of the WJ35 carbs

Thanks for the info, it looked like there was a “70” inscribed on the jet in the carb when I had it apart for carb kit.

I need one of those pre filters for my old style HD filter on my 064. Thought of trying a pantyhose but that’s kind of a hack thing to do lol. The filter itself seems to do ok at keeping fines out, but I think a pre filter would keep it cleaner longer.

I was able to order NOS OEM non intelli carb filter setups for my '92 066 lightweight. Got a 1986 064 HD non intelli setup on my '97 066 also.
Just have to not forget about them and clean em daily.

Here’s my favorite 064.

Nice ,pretty minty. Even got the translucent tank.
Someone on ebay lately was selling 10 or more NOS 064 top covers with badges for $60.
I totally forgot about that until now Kyle, hopefully their still available.
