In this cut report is a 550xp mkII that was woods ported from new. Some added torque was specifically asked for and which was attained after seeing where the saw was and where the machining and porting could take it. I have to admit to liking this new breed of Husqvarna, it is very smooth running and just as handy as its forerunner. The changes I see in it all seem for the better and other than the port work could find little to no room for improvement overall.
In the video what can't be seen is the below zero temperature and that's green Norway froze like rock, at the end when you hear the engine slow it's because I am pushing quite hard on it to see what it will take and it took it well, I couldn't stuff it. These are literally the first cuts the saw made after being warmed up. @ZERO

I like it.
How much did you open the muffler up.

This cut report is another small saw this time a Stihl 026 in fine shape, I really like how this little guy turned out and take into consideration that wood is frozen hard and am running semi chisel .325" chain in this vidja. Otherwise the saw ran beautifully for me and am well pleased with the outcome of the work put into it.

A Christmas cut report on a ported 254 Husqvarna. There's not a whole lot new to report on these great little saws that just cut darn good. Had problems getting my hands on a HDA 198-1 carburetor, after ordering several and having the orders cancelled and funds returned it became obvious a different tact was in order. So, I found a NOS HDA 120 and this being an early version of this saw would stay with the theme here if you will. Yes, the bore diameter is smaller, the venturi diameter in the 120 is large compared to its bore so, maybe a wash here? Also another tip I stumbled upon was that a 272xp exhaust gasket works just wonderful as is on a ported 254 with an enlarged muffler inlet. Another side note is the coil is literally on its last legs here(orange spark that won't jump a gap) that the saw was barely able to run here and to my point a new coil was ordered and it does have its own part number from Husqvarna, so while tempting, a coil from a 272 or a 51/55 might fit physically, the advance curve in the module is different I believe in all my testing.
Otherwise all in all a great saw and one of my favorites to work on as well.

Got an old timer in this cut report, a 285CD that ended up needing quite a bit of help to get in shape for tinkering with.
The crankshaft had just plain saw better days. I could feel the play in the big rod end bearing. Sure enough it was burned up.
Purple.

One was taken out of a 2100CD to replace it.

Some period bearings, new OEM seals and what gaskets were yet available were procured.

Had to utilize the case gasket over again with a gasket dressing to maintain tolerances.

Seeing it was nla, a base gasket delete made a lot of sense here. These could be had not that long ago.

One thread gave up and needed repaired.
A helicoil put it back in service.

Some other stuff out of the bone pile helped make it happen here and there along the way.

Here's an 026 I recieved as a basket case.
I was initially going to put it together and give it to my Dad, but due to circumstances, he might just keep the 029 he has and I'll sell this.

Piston and jug were clean and in good condition. Measured squish with gasket at .025".
Walbro carb kit, Stihl crank seals, a few odds and ends obtained from Dallas and I think it's ready to run.

Except, It's got no compression...
Back apart. Turns out I slid a 44.7mm MS260 jug on a 44mm 026 piston....

1 44.7mm ms260 Meteor piston and back together it goes with .022" squish with a gasket.

Couldn't find my .325 rim, so running 3/8 ,and bar and chain robbed off My MoFo 026.

I'll get some time on it this Friday and have my Dad use it some and see if he wants to keep it.
