I'll own 'em though when I tell your wife you bought my ported 441.:nono:
ouch thats a low blow my friend :)

When I went to the PA GTG , my wife said if I brought home any more saws than I took with me, she was gonna sign on with the screen name Daves-Wife and start auctioning off all my saws :)
She said she would take all my nieces shoe shopping with whatever she could get out of The Precious.

If she worded it like that, I'd just take more with me (in basket case form).:campeon:

Part of how I evaluate saws is watching experienced cutters and what they prefer. I realize there are guys out there that put more hours on a saw in a week than I will in a year or more.
My climber, and most experienced guy, loves to run the Snellerized 362 and Mastermind 064 but whenever there is a tree where he wants pinpoint control and is going to drop a big tree with a bore cut he calls for the stock MS441.
When I asked why he prefers it even over bigger saws in big wood he explained that it has such a smooth power band that it doesn't chatter on the bore cut, he slides it in like butter exactly where he wants it and it holds a nice constant rpm throughout. When you are dropping a big half dead split monster over a national registry home with no room for bucket or crane, you want to feel what the tree is doing through the saw and not have any surprises.
The powerband is different than the 1128 saws i have for sure ,it does hold the rpms in the cut real nice and smooth ,even with a 32 inch bar and .404 chain

I don't ever notice vibes in a stihl till I run my 395,vibes don't bother me though accept deets 090,I made one cut with it and my hands were numb and starting to cramp. I can say I ran a 090 now though!
I feel the difference, but it's not enough to sway me one way or the other. Other than that Poulan 2300, actually crapsman 2.3, same saw. What a pos. Every raker and every tooth is felt with both hands. Never rode a 090

You can always justify another saw.

NICELY DONE KEVIN!!!
That looks like it picked up 2 or 3 rpms since you got it :)
Does it make me a bad person that I watched the 16" square filed clip first ?
Thanks much for doing this. I use a 441 as half of my two saw plan and loved how smooth the AV and power band were, even though I hear guys badmouth it all the time.
From the video it has a much more usable grunt now and some giddy up and go that they lack in stock form.
I thought I was the lone weirdo here that had any love for the 441. The A/V has always made it a favorite of mine.

I am not sure if I have ever run a stock 461 <embarrassed and ashamed>. The dealer had one to demo but there was so much going on and then some yeblitz nard touched the ground with the chain and we all went back into the air conditioning :)

Thought about it and I kind of agree when I really compared.

Obviously the7900 is stock, but the 441 ported may not have torque of the 461 or pure speed of the 7900.

However it is very, very, very consistent IMO, when the saw is warm; the cut times are consistent. The air filtration is excellent, the feel of the R package feels very smooth and not spongy.

Mine may have failed to a bearing that may have been bad or just decided to *s-word out, but it was always a strong running saw and was the first I grabbed when someone needed a tree removed. Never worried about tune it would fire and warm up and got to work and loved it's 32:1 diet lol

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

I really Like my 441 rcm. It's a very smooth saw with a good power-band all the way around. And it sips fuel. I ran my 441 rcm one day for about 5 hours then grabbed my 360 pro and started running that and within a few minutes I shut it off and went back for my 441 rcm because the vibration was much less. Hence the reason why it's at Alan's (Awol) place right now getting ported. And besides the 441 Rcm Is a bad azz looking saw!!
