Sometimes if you put it inner and dont pull it outer you end up stuck inner for a long time.
Wrong wrong wrong

You end up stuck with her for a long time. The time inner diminishes exponentially as the years go by...

I've been suprised a few times about the factory small inner dawg. Pretty sure it fits most models from 024-066. But not the bigger spikes that guys with little dicks need on their saws.

Update.

Case halves, starter and clutch cover are arriving at the members house today. He's gonna try to powder the case halves tonight and ship back by tomorrow. He'll get to the starter and clutch cover at a later time this week or next.

I'm on call this weekend, so time will be limited. I should be able to get the long block assembled and vacuum tested by Sunday night.

You don't have much Pine up your way, do you bud? Yellow pine has a very thick, shaggy bark and the longer spikes let you get a better bite.

For the love of christ...

The inner is the one that attaches to the case. ( shared by a 440/460/660 )

The outer is on the clutch cover. ( shared by a 440/660 )..not a 460 its different.

what do you mean the spike connected to the saw is the different one ?

You guys make something as simple as wiping your ass an algebra problem.

Repped

;)

As a father of five, I can attest to most of this.

(I liked bigger spikes on this saw, just not those huge 660 ones...)

Wow that's fantastic news. Thank you for the update, Al.

Wish I had a good picture of some of the thick bark on certain types of wood I've been cutting lately. The little spikes are nearly worthless if you need to dog in. Of course if you're just cutting cookies or firewood that's already on the ground this shouldn't be much of an issue, but large dogs it is for me. Sorry doc, has nothing to do with the size of my dick and everything to do with my massive gnarly wood.

For felling, especially on the larger trees where the bottom gets very irregular, the larger spikes are best. They not only help you to make your cut correctly, but also protect your saw from damage.

For smaller saws and most bucking, smaller spikes give you a longer cut distance. I like different spikes on different saws. I put longer spikes of the Hybrid to facilitate felling, and left shorter ones on the to facilitate bucking.

Here are a few photos of my 046 with spikes.
I can't remember how I got them to fit. I may have drilled them out a bit. But they also fit my 660 too.
