Since they've been out here my tree work professionals, loggers and firewood guru's amateur and pro alike, been using them pretty much without falter for the most part, some exceptions besides the smashed handles, clutch covers and whatever else they manage to mangle up dropping trees on 'em and whatnot are starter pulley's, this being the one reoccurring failure I continually see is the starter pulley's break when a young fella full of beans just grabs it without the use of the decompression valve and gives a yank as hard as he can from free spool right into engaging the pawls, which breaks the posts on the pulley. This does not happen if you engage the pawls first then pull. That said a new beefed-up pulley has been made, getting your hands on one is a different story altogether, let alone the old style.
Hot start issues, haven't had, nor heard of any as yet.
As far as the saws seeing time on them, I've replaced ring sets on some older ones to give you an idea.
Stock or ported, basic maintenance will see them through.

are there really 572 saws with an hot start issue? maybe only in the us?

never heard in my area that one has an start issue.
It has been the opposite for my 550. Failure to start at ambient temperatures of -22 (-8 on the German scale). MS460 arctic would not start either, yet I grabbed the 30 year old Dolmar 6000i and it started on the 3rd pull with the fuel injection choke. Here is the pictograph on the 2017 550 with hot restart issue steps listed at the bottom.IMG_0033.jpeg

Im guilty of grabbing the saw and yanking the pull cord, I think I will change my method to giving it light force until I feel the starter engage than give it the tug it needs to fire off. Thanks for that info.

i love how any thread no matter the topic can become a drama filled pissing match.....
This was not my intention, I just mentioned one guy with an issue and the dealership/husky so far hasn’t been able to make it work right yet. And in no way did I ever say all 572’s or most 572’s had an issue. Then in got the the slinging husky hate from a guy whose every bit the polar opposite of me on the husky side. No saws perfect and both brands have had some snags lately far as a crappy climber saw the 019t/191t may be in the running for worst climber saw made in a long time.

It's a lot easier on the pawls for sure and a good practice, but the 572xp pulley is the same part as in a 562xp and the 550xp. It really should have had its own design in my opinion and not need to be babied to keep from breaking. Hopefully the new replacement will work its way into the system more and more and be less troublesome. You will know it right off, as it has four engagement studs instead of two. I guess they figure it will spread the work load out and if nothing else have a working set if one pair fails.

Thanks for posting! Is there a production date, after which all the 572s have the four stud starter?

Why are there early and late versions of the ms261 and ms462. Both with different cylinders. Wouldn't those be mark do overs also? Isn't there 2 versions of the ms362, i'm not up on them? Full disclosure I am not a stihl head but I have a couple.

He call's out your hearsay and you respond with confirming that's the case. Hilarious. Stihl and husqvarna are the democracy of chainsaws, they both suck except compared to everything else you could use.

I want all the 462s before the design change. I wish they were still for sale.
