use a spacer and use the 254 top end on a 55.Oh they are cheap. and you get what you pay for. I could show you a pile that are stripped out. even if they are stripped you can fix them. There is no margin in this saw. If you can fix it for cheap its the way you should go. They pop up around here and I offer very little for non runners because you can get upside down in a hurry.
The 254 was 45mm closed port but had a longer stroke. They reved well and had good power. many of the parts will swap like mufflers rear handles coils, and maybe the clutch?
the 254 was in the family of the 257 and 262 the and had a 12mm conrod pin
50/51/55 was not and had a 10mm pin.
Now if we could put the 34mm stroke 254 crank in the 55 case and make it would we would really be in business @GoBigBlue1984
the problem is the 12mm conrod Jake and it would decrease stroke and therefore displacementuse a spacer and use the 254 top end on a 55.
I just so happen to have a 254 crank floating around here. Let's do some comparative analysis shall we?Oh they are cheap. and you get what you pay for. also this is a solid fix that eliminates one of the major downfalls of this saw and for less than 5 bucks.

Do they really need the decomp ?
Pics?I like clams.
do a thread on it that is cool.Here's a 142 I'm putting a 46cc poulan motor inView attachment 46192View attachment 46193 View attachment 46194
more power or about the same? i always heard the poulan 46cc was lacking. It's an easy swap, take the 40cc motor out,put the 46 in,no alterations needed.
you wouldn't mind sharing the tweaks? They gotta be tweaked a little to wake them up but definitely more power.
I ripped my rope in half just a few days before Christmas Gotta pull that apart to see what's happened no decomp on mine as it's a rancher. I still love that ol bat had to grab the 346 to finish up a light jobYes.
I can pull mine over fine without it, but they tend to eat recoils. Bad design IMO.
i got a 55 and a 61 with a 266 xp top end.
