Got this saw back in December. Ran well and cut great but unfortunately had a scored piston. I never would have guessed given how well it pulled, but no big deal.

Went through it completely with a new piston, rings, bearings, seals, points, paint... the list goes on.

A lot of time and effort went into this one but it was well worth it. Saw runs great and I'm excited to put it into some big white oak within the next few days.

Now that's a saw. Well done Mathew.
Looks fantastic.
Thanks Lee. Appreciate it.

That gasket did in fact turn out to be the issue, and while I was at it and feeling ambitious, I pulled the tank off and put the tank bracket on; I missed putting that in the first time around and it's impossible to put that on with the tank held in place by the reed assembly.

Were bearings and seals easy to find? I am planning to restore a very similar saw in the next few months. I don't know the model but mine has a mc100 kart motor block in it.

Btw. Nice work on the restoration. It looks great.

Yes they were. Clutch side is 104432. Inner flywheels side is 57898 and outter flywheel side is 57897. That's from the 1969 IPL. May have changed numbers from different years.

I bought my bearings and seals all together from eBay, and multiple NOS spares of the two different flywheel side seals. The clutch side seal seems harder to come by.

I believe the eBay seller was "tucker*b"

Not sure if the 797 seals/bearings are the same as your kart motor. Lee would know for sure.

Iv'e done that too Mathew. Mccullochs have those nuts that are slid into the block and
if you forget to put one or a few in then it comes apart again. Quick lesson leaned.

I don't have an ipl for the MC100 but i'm thinking the same but it would be best to check.
I know the MC101 motors take the same bearings and seals. The MC100 and MC75 are
older motors.

I put the nuts in, just didn't hookup the bracket. Slipped my mind and I couldn't find out where that bracket went; and figured it went to another saw. Then I realized it. I can totally see missing the nuts tho.

And yes, if I were him I'd check or get an IPL for that motor before ordering anything.

Thanks for the compliments guys; and I have cut with it a little. Maybe ~20 cookies in some 25" Maple and Red Oak. Pulls much better than I remembered it, and it's not even near broken in yet

I may have the IPL's on the Mc75 and 100 but they are on micro fiche and I have no way to copy them .

Speaking of break in ,the 125 I sleeved maybe 10 years ago still doesn't have enough run time on it to seal the rings .I mean it runs great just not fully seated in .Big problem with large saws is finding enough big wood to justify using them .

I found the mc100 ipl online. I was just wondering if anyone had found any standard bearings and seals that worked.
Thanks

If you have the OEM stock numbers due to the fact they are all SAE sized you should be able to cross reference them .FWIW I have the Bearings Inc master seal interchange book and with few exceptions I can cross seals .Exceptions being many Stihl seals which happened to be OEM by design ,typical I might add of the German mind set of controlling repairs on just about anything they build not just limited to chainsaws .

Most of the public libraries in Ohio have a microfiche printer at these days, call around it might be easier than you think
