The 572 is 940$ in my area the 462 is 1129$ and that’s real close to what the 462 was price wise from Greece before we could get them so I’m betting that the Greece price on the 500i will be close to our price.

I bet there’s twice the amount of logging going on in Michigan in the winter time. They do it in areas that are wet and will freeze the roads in to have better access when it’s colder

There is a TON of oil and gas work here in the winter, plus fall-n-burn and pipeline falling. They sell a *s-word load more saws here in the winter time then any other time of the year as well.

The MS500i has just been released here in NZ...been on the dealer's shelves for 2 weeks. Guess the price......$2495NZD - exactly the same on the shelf price as the MS661C!
BTW $2495NZD equates to approx $1596USD.

Always run it for a bit and then sell it if it isn't your flavor. You seeing noticable gains w the 572s?

Fuel injection may be nice, but I just don't understand why Stihl did not incorporate the clean air filter technology into this saw.

Since I think the clean filter tech is more important than FI, and since I run a 20" bar the majority of the time, I'm happy I went with the 462.

Does it make sense to anyone else that they did not use the clean filter tech in the 500i???

Be willing to bet the 500i was being tested before the 462 was and husky still had jonsreds patent on the air injection. To me it doesn’t matter if the filter gets dirty as long as it stops the dust from entering the engine. The 500 seems to run with the filter completely plugged. In my opinion I will be buying a 500i after running both

I would like Stihl to make a limited edition saw that mimics the carbon concept saw though weather its in the 500i or another injected model

Strangely I have found Husqys to lean out without the air filter cover as if their air injection is actually suction. I'm not sure how that works.
