At £500, I think I'd be trying to find another supplier, or another brand/model of saw. But I guess we are all just tight arsed cheap pricks down under. Well, some of us.

**Edit**Plus I enjoy shoving it up the local Stihl HQ here, and the challenge of beating their iron curtain.
I certainly never said anything or implied what you said in your post ! So I hope you dont think so .
Husqvarna and Shill saws in the small pro range are very commonly from £500 upwards in the UK so I was giving a comparison in the global costs.

You can always justify another saw.

@ stihl saws what's your price, and is the 241 considered a pro saw...
Last time I checked with my usual dealer he could order me a 241 for about $530 US. No one has them on the shelf in my area. Even the largest shop that has 661's and a 880.

I have seen them on the shelf around here. Everyone wanted at least $550 for them and would not budge. Got one (new) for my brother for $500 through a member.

Anyone noticed if the 241 has "made in the USA" on the saws your getting there ? the 024 were made in the US and Germany so i wonder if there doing the same explaining how $550 is about the rate there and much more elsewhere.

Working part time at a Stihl dealer. It's $604. Looks like a nice saw,but I keep telling myself I don't need another saw.

I believe the 241 C my brother got was made in the USA, but my 024 Super was made in Germany, as are all my 044/440 and 046/460s. However, my 362 C and 029 are Made In USA.

I only have seen ones on the shelves saying "Made in Germany" over here. Your market is so vast its not a surprise Stihl have a plant supplying the USA directly.

what chain would folks recommend for this saw,for use on mainly green eucalypt?
Its got PS3 on it,but i would be interested in others opinions.

I chucked an old 3/8p bar on it just to give it a try as I was convinced that I'd end up putting a .325 on it... Still got that old 3/8p bar on it. I use it for anything and everything

Around US$800. Nup, I'm not joking.
*Edit* that's what is asked for them down here, not what some of us end up paying. It would be interesting to see how many Stihl in NZ and Oz actually sell at those prices. I know quite a few retailers here don't stock them and I suspect the price is a factor.

I sell more of these then 261's. Obviously my customers aren't tight arses and appreciate local dealer backup and knowledge

I'm happy for you and your customers.
You're making sales, and customers are getting a quality Stihl product and great service.
Sounds like a perfect match.

Local government because they can't have top handle saws and they're the smallest pro saw we get. We don't get 150,193or201 Rear handles. Got 2 going out Thursday to someone on here who does weed control. Sort of every one really
