The 241 is my next saw, even though I feel they are way overpriced. Nothing like your prices "down under" though. What do you guys pay for one?

When I ordered mine the dealer looked at me like I had two heads. I ran it for two or three weeks went back and told him what a monster it was. He was impressed and bought one for himself. My intentions were to put a .325 pitch chain on it. I ran the picco factory chain and couldn't believe how well it did. That little thing rips. I could only imagine what it could do if it was modified.

I have 2 of them , one with a muffler mod and one thats ported..the ported one is pretty damn impressive for as small of a saw as they are...but the muffler modded one is no slouch either.

Around US$800. Nup, I'm not joking.
*Edit* that's what is asked for them down here, not what some of us end up paying. It would be interesting to see how many Stihl in NZ and Oz actually sell at those prices. I know quite a few retailers here don't stock them and I suspect the price is a factor.

I received my latest saw,an MS241C, in the mail this morning, and raced off to work to try it out.
It's had the muffler opened up by Brad Snelling, but otherwise stock, with hardly any time on it.
I owned a 362cm and never really bonded with it,so sold it and went looking for something different
Bought the 241 from a forum member,(thanks again Mike!) and i couldnt be happier with it.

It came with a 16"es light bar,and PS3 chain (i do want to try it with straight PS soon)
On smaller,5" eucalypt,it zipped through nicely, pretty similar to my Vince modded 181c,albeit more powerful,
it felt great,but not unexpected.

Putting it into a rock hard 14" ironbark log was quite a shock though,it chewed through it like a pint sized tassie devil, with more grunt than seemed possible for such a small saw.
I kept cutting rounds, and couldnt bog it down!
So i switched to a larger 20" grey box, same result.

Determined to bog it down,i flipped a 3ft round on end,and started ripping.
Finally,i managed to slow the little monster down enough to feel reality returning, but it still did the job like a saw 3 times its size. Incredible torque.

Maybe I'm just in the "honeymoon" phase, and my infatuation will wear off,but
I'm gobsmacked by this saw,and its coming to work every day from now on.

Yep ripper saw them 241s even better ported.
I run a 16'' .325 set up with a rim sprocket.

i bought mine from the US,even though i have a dealer who can get me "mates rates" the wholesale mark-up here is ridiculous.
Just had a look what deals are about in UK...£500.00 all but a few £s. That is £170.00 off list with a 16 in bar.
£ Sterling not Euro by the way

That £385 +vat is good but sill comes out just tucked just under the £500 ish mark all in...Good saws hold there selling price new or second hand when all said and done.
At £500, I think I'd be trying to find another supplier, or another brand/model of saw. But I guess we are all just tight arsed cheap pricks down under. Well, some of us.

**Edit**Plus I enjoy shoving it up the local Stihl HQ here, and the challenge of beating their iron curtain.
