I must admit that I made only one huge mistake while rebuilding an MS201T. I took the top handle apart because I thought I needed to. At that point, I tripled my repair time required to get the saw running again. Never again...

The mechanic who designed the parts inside that handle should have his brain donated to science for a thorough examination. Oh, and I still have to wonder why Echo almost copied it perfectly with the 355T.

Definitely confusing! I bought the saw with the handle parts missing, missing muffler and straight gassed.

Ever put one of those carbs on ? How about the recessed area on the piston where the piston pin clips go?

I put the carburetor on but I am having getting the throttle not to hang on the handle. I think the piston and cylinder I ordered was in good shape.

This is all part of the machine designer's plan to drive you nuts. When you get it all together, you next bow your head and pray that it won't come apart again.

Wolfie asked how long it took me for a complete assembly after dismantling the handle. I think it was three hours, but that could be an understatement. I remember tying string around it here and there while I worked. My nerves were shot when finished.

I bet that pic I posted will save hours.

Tape works to keep that stuff in place.

Hey lone wolf that is a great picture, I am going to save it with my saw info. who knows if mine will remain together long enough upon inspection to take a picture. Is it from a MS201TC / non M-tronics as I see the adjust hole. and is a MS200T the same, just going to add some notes to my info. Soon I will find a Service manual for the MS201TC-M and will be all set. Thanks

This video was Godsend when I took my MS200 handle apart.
Definitive Dave had warned me so I was able to be careful about it from the start.
This was to change carb studs and AV mounts. Not sure why but after a couple of times taking carb on and off the threads got buggered.
Dave was a huge help. This saw sings for us now. Dave has new carbs for these if you develop the accelerator pump problem.

One tip I have -- follow the video procedure for taking the side of the handle off. Once it's off and you are going to muck with it more and you don't want the whole thing to explode you can put a zip tie around the trigger and handle itself temporarily to just hold everything in. Then when you unplug the electrical connections at the front and pull the handle off to get a the carb studs for instance it all stays intact!

Precisely what I reported in post #21. It's a can of worms that has to be treated with painstaking care and steady nerves. How it was ever designed, assembled, and built boggles the mind. I think the guy who wrote the service manual may have been carried away from his desk on a stretcher also. Beautiful Pics by Malk315.

Lol. They definitely didn't use the KISS principle.

This thing is beyond aggravating. I can’t get the throttle lever to connect to the carburetor. This is what I have so far. Any suggestions?
