I repaired two MS 660's in my shop last week. Neither one ran. I rebuilt the top ends, and I replaced several other parts. I offered the owner $900 cash and a waiver of my repair bill. He elected instead to pay the repair bill and to turn down the cash offer.

How long of a bar do people run on those anyway ? I have no experience in these big saws.

Ok. For someone that's used to 18 to 20 in bars thats pretty big . Lol

They're fun with a 20". Overkill for sure, but fun. For $500 if it's in good shape, runs, etc, then that's a good deal. They go for $700-800 on Craigslist around here seems. Maybe a little less.

Looking at your lineup, it'd be a great addition. Seeing as you're a member at OPE, and like saws, you're gonna buy a big saw anyway at some point. Might as well get it over with. :)

You can always justify another saw.

$500 for a ready to work 660 is a really fair price. It all depends on the condition. If the compression seems good by holding the rope and dropping , I'd take it.

You could sell a stock 660 for a grand? Or you mean buy for $500, port it, sell for a grand?
Port it and clean and spit shine it and if it runs good enough it will bring a grand.
I've sold a couple in the last year for 1000$

That is truly incredible. The two I repaired and restored looked brand new when I was finished. So, I guess I should have offered the owner $1,500 for the pair after I worked on them. He dropped about $3,000 replacing them with MS 661 M-Tronics.

I can get 1000 for a very clean and very strong ported 660.
The better it runs the more it's worth.
A very clean stock one could bring 650$

$500.00 is a VERY good price in my area, I had an 066 flat top with a new top end and a 28" bar, sold it for $950.00 and honestly wish I had kept it.
