I have a new 25" 404-063 Oregon bar that's been hanging on my wall for a few years... I want to use it on the 660 that I'm building... so I went down to the shop and they made me a chain, buuuut, it was Way too short. It's an Oregon chain (27) made it with 76 DL... which is WAY to short. Any help would be greatly appreciated. After work I'm heading back.down to the shop so they can make me another chain with the proper DL.

Judging by how short the chain was on the bar... I'm going to assume I need something in the range of 84-88DL... but, I want to know for sure so that I'm not running back and forth. Figured someone would know here.

I honestly have no clue about how the DL are figured... Is there a formula to figure the required DL counts?

According to STIHL, with their .404 bar for MS 660, 77 DL. 84 DL for 3/8" bar.
Originally this bar was going to be used with an 880/888 back when i built a couple.
The chain currently has 76 DL and its way short.

Take the bar & saw to the shop with you, that way they can can get the correct dl count, that's what I did even though my local PAPE is only 5 min away, I hate doing the back & forth deal also.
