When my old man was full time cutting for some of the big sawmills up north using 090's he used to get the carbs modded. He used to get the body of the carb machined or something to fit o rings on the ends of the throttle and choke shafts would stop the shafts wearing from vibs and no more air leaks.
He's worn out a few 090's in his time and still his fav saw to this day, I have a couple his old modded 090 carbs will dig them out and get some pics..
I've got a nice top cover with nice paint no cracks will dig through my junk for it, will let it go cheap if ya interested? save ya trying to fix that seen better days top cover ya got there..

Well I got it finished off today
The handle bar has been rebuilt but is still full of dint's and other damage, but it will do.
I had to put a Chinese top cover on it which I'm not keen on but it will do to get it running.
All it needs now is a 50" bar

NICE!!!!

Thaks mate, its been quite a task.

Considering it was dropped off the back of a truck at speed and run over, its come up good.

It will never be a collectors item but after all the blood sweat and tears I have invested, Its going to stay right here.
Its the ultimate big saw!
Planning a 50" bar for it to take care of all the big tree trunks in stead of stressing the 066

I traded for one myself.

I want to compare it to a couple other 7+ cube saws. [emoji6][emoji6]

I have a couple 42" bars but they are in small Stihl mount and husky mount.

I want to go to 50" on the 090, it will fit in my 48" mill as well.

How much would a nice GB run you there since they're made in Australia?

True to form, most expensive than in the USA ;) Especially in a dealer, larger bars have a huge markup here.

I believe the 44 to 50" GB Titanium long bars are around the $400 mark
I would love a cannon but the exchange and postage make them far more expensive than you guys can get them. Add $100 postage and then add 25% to the price of the bar and postage.
A $350 bar quickly becomes a $600 bar in Australia

How common are 090 parts down there? Can you still find OEM stuff easily, or is it mostly Chinese copies?

I think they are around but everyone hangs onto what they have.

Some of the Chinese stuff is very good.

I fired a Chinese fuel tank base plate and oil tank to the one in this thread and the fit and finish is perfect

Yeah I have been following along it looks just like the original. I saw the carb you ordered wasn't the best, but it worked out for you in the end.

There are guys I've seen talking about having pallets of 090s and contras that won't sell either a saw or parts from them.
