Mine ran a LOT better with a muff mod. I never did check to see if the AM ignition module did advance. I changed out the ignition system after the second chip/box quit. After one OEM and one AM module I had had enough.

Just for info that saw has two types of solid state ignition .Bosc which uses an external trigger device and SEM which is self contained .The SEM has the advance,I'm not sure about the Bosc.

In addition to that the IPL shows a points type ignition .There are 4 different flywheels also

I have a points case. Not sure about the rest of that setup. I have four cases and two with cranks. Need more jugs or something 54mm to jam on it.

Ill bet an 042 set up to run funny fuel should really GO. Can the seals be sorced/crossed over? What case bearings are in them? I never looked.

The clutch side both the bearing and the seal are a bastard size OEM thing .The bearing has a radius chamfer where it butts into the crankshaft and a relieved outer race where the seal sets .

I changed only one which had a spun bearing and was able to find the parts at a Stihl dealer .I've never seen the bearing come up on flea bay and seldom the seal .Bearing #9503 -003-0340

I'll be damned .I just typed the numbers into flea bay and damned if they don't list them both .As such I stand corrected

I have a 042 048 crankcase, crank seems good to me. Tank etc misc parts.
Been parting it. If you need something holler.
