Plastic clutch cover? All of the 034 and 036 ones I have seen have been metal.

Is it aftermarket or a different model's cover?

Probably not the original cover.
Unless it's a wood boss thing.
I don't see what a plastic one hurts though.

You need a west coast cover Dallas.
My 029 comes stock with a plastic cover. I hate them. I think the metal ones are better. I bought an AM cover for it.

Might be wrong, but all the 029, 039....covers were plastic, although identical. Previous owners may have thrown one on a pro saw for whatever reason and sold it like that

Ive had a couple 034s with plastic covers. I think they were on some 034s but I dont know for sure (got called out on FHC for speculating). The part number does start with an 1125 and there's an ancient lakeside reference to them on AS. These 1125s have a lot of variations with a ton of tech notes over the years.

I own 6 034/034super/036/360 and have 2 or 3 in total parts right now.

Depending on where theyre busted, l've been cutting smashed clutch covers and making them into designated noodling covers. Theyre risky for any other type of cutting (falling... Yikes!) but theyre a blast on an 064 buried in soft maple.

Was that case painted/powdered ? Looks nice either way.
I painted it with oil base to match the cover as closely as possible. Not easy because Stihl keeps changing the off-white paint color about every five years and never reveals the color. So, you have to eye-ball it and hope for the best. Thanks for the compliment. This is one of my favorite saws, and today it will almost stay even with my MS 361.

A little off topic Mike, but be sure to check if the choke is closing completely with the metal spring that the control lever rides against when you get to that point.

My newest build took 12 pulls to start. I was beginning to think that the coil was bad. When I got It started It ran beautifully. It started warm with one pull. I checked everything again. I was pulling my hair out.

I finally noticed that the choke was not completely closing when in the choke position because that metal spring was so bent out of shape that it would not hold the control lever in the closed position. I was able to bend it back into shape and now it closes well and starts easier.

Exactly what does a noodling cover look like if I may ask?
