It is crazy how many differences (carb, cylinder, piston, muffler, and ignition module) there are in the same family of saws. Some had to perform way better than others.

I never heard of a oem dual port muffler for an 034 or 036. Any body know the part # and price ?
Every thing I have run between an 034 and 036 ran very well and strong consistently. It seems like with the 024 to 260 power from saw to saw often varied significantly. I have probably cut wood with 10 of each series little more or less. To me with a 20" bar it was hard to tell a super or 036 felt any more powerful then an 034 but I suppose the bigger bore has an edge, but I am like others that wouldn't go out of my way to change it unless I had it down for other reasons.

I tried an 034 against an 034S and they were within a tenth on a 15-16 second cut. I used the same bar and chain on both saws.

I think the port layout of the 46mm cylinder is superior.

A properly ported 48mm saw is a thing of beauty.

I agree after sitting down and looking over a pair of non decomp jugs that both will bolt on an 034 regular.

The transfer ports are just better in the 034 jug imo. The roof angle is severe and probably makes the saw lazy. The 036 jug has a regular intake with no uvula. Both are the same on the exhaust side. The fins do not need to be cut to fit the 034 cover.
10/85 B jug 034
02/91 A jug 036

I think the 034 in hand is different than the one on a stock 034 here running. It will be coming off soon. Old style caps on it with a red lever 46mm cylinder HK carb.

Also have an 036 complete original with this same style jug in a red lever type.
The 360 Pro is different and did not run as good as my 036 or the 036 Pro that I ran before. 036 Pro was the strongest stock saw imo with a large factory single port hole on the side.

Has anyone tried to run or measured up a ts460 piston in a 036/034s cylinder? they look pretty similar in pictures but I can't tell if they are noticably different in length/height/pin placement etc. I know the ts460 has wings and appear to have longer windows.

Kind of late to the party on this one .I did an 036 cylinder deal after I screwed up the original 034 av cylinder with a flap wheel .Things happen ! It was a good runner but I traded it off for a Mac 805 and last I heard it was still running fine after at least 10-12 years by now . I've got another which is an 034 super which is a back burner project ,just haven't found the time .I'll give this one the "treatment " .As far as comments about mufflers you can modify any of them for performance .It's not rocket science you know .Regarding the basic saw I like them .Relatively light weight with ample power and could be modified to coax more out of fairly easily .
