There is another thread in this site that explains how to test and replace if necessary. I'll see if I can find it and attach. I remember reading it.

Wasn't there someone doing repairs on some ignition units? I believe it it was bad capacitors needing replacement. Not sure what web site I saw it on.
Seems like the guy posted as "Foggy Sails" or something similar.

Yes sir, not every time is it the capacitor, but a majority has been my experience. Definitely worth investigating. I have never personally worked on this specific module, but have tested many others and the capacitor has been faulty on several occasions.

There suggesting using the 031av module in that post but I'm hesitant in buying one just in case it doesn't work with my setup. The 032 IPL only shows 2 setups but the post mentions 4 different versions on the 032. One being points, the donut under flywheel, trigger unit and then the later electronic coil. Without seeing bulletins for the 032 changes

I was thinking of pulling the guts out of mine and having a go at repairing it. My coil tests good with resistances in spec and tested on a coil tester but get no spark when in the saw. What's the best way to remove the epoxy from the chip without mangling the casing?

The epoxy is a real headache. I use tiny screw drivers and pics. Time consuming, much easier and faster to replace. That is a side project just for enjoyment, not if ya want to get her repaired.

Are either of these a possibility?
