Splitter Recommendations

Well, after LOTS of research and reflection I settled on the Split-Fire 2265 with Honda GX200 powerplant. Good Canadian-made machine using mostly U.S. parts so should stand up and hold its valiue well. Should be out here in about a month - I'm low on wood to split so gotta get out and get some rounds cut! Would like to still try to get 20 cords ready to sell this summer/fall.

I had a Split-Fire skiddy loader splitter before my mini-ex splitter and really liked it. It was fast and did a really nice job!! Very well built as well. The split both ways thing is a huge time saver if you can keep it full of wood !!

Received this splitter last week and finally got some serious work in with it yesterday. Extremely impressive. No problem with anything I threw at it. Me & my three sons (17/13/11) had a great production line with two of us handling wood at the splitter, one running the wheelbarrow and one stacking. Honda engine is incredibly fuel efficient and powerful even at low RPMs. The two-way splitting means it's all you can do to keep up with what the machine can do, even with a crew working. Paid probably double what I would have for a regular big-box store splitter but zero regrets!

Have split oh, maybe three or four cords with the Split-Fire now. Extremely efficient machine! Could not be happier with it!! Haven't run across a piece of wood yet that it won't handle.

Excellent! Looks like a quality unit. I’m seriously considering adding their vertical unit to my stable.
