Gas powered pressure washer [pump] recommendation

Always borrowing a Karcher 3200 OC, I think it's 2.5gpm and 3000 psi.

Going to buy my own, looking for recommendations and what to stay away from?

Are "AAA" pumps, the ones that do 4000 psi? problematic?

Want one for home use, doing the house siding, boat, deck, etc. I have 100 psi city water (not well).

Not thrilled about $700+ price on some of them, but if anyone can speak on behalf of one, that would perform like 3x better than what I'm used to using then lemme know. My only sort-of requirement is getting one with a honda engine; is there anything way better to look at than what's being offered at depot/lowes having a honda engine and being in $700-1000 price range ?

how much better is 4400 psi, versus 4000... 3600.... 3000 ?

I dont recall what "brand" mine is, says Briggs and Stratton on the cart, but has a Honda engine. 3600psi.
No complaints. Only issue I ever had was I once didnt fully seat in the spray tip. Pulled the trigger, launched the tip into the side of my truck and lost the little o-ring that seals it.
I think I only paid $350 or so for it at a big box store.

I have a 4000psi unit with Honda GX390 13hp engine. So far I'm very happy with it. Just gotta be carful around some things, it will rip decals and paint of really fast.

Interested in the 3200 psi predator @ 429, which has a chemical injection thing. The $1049 4200 psi one (above) does not.
Are their injector "kits" or whatever that I could purchase separately, to be able to spray out cleaning chemical or bleach using the 4200 psi predator washer?

The clear hose is the chemical hose. It sucks it up while spraying.

The HF 4200 psi pressure washer you posted has chemical injection already on it. Pretty much all of them do now

yeah i couldn't tell from the pics online regarding the "upstream" or "downstream" injection pickup thing... it has upstream (typical) I believe.

bought the 4200psi yesterday, < $900 after CT tax; it was on sale + 15% off with HF credit card opening.

gotta say it's a pretty nice machine, I can feel the force in the wand @ 4200 psi vs the 3200 psi one I kept borrowing.

started up on second pull, the pump came with oil in it but the engine doesn't nor does a quart of oil ship inside the box which seems to be the internet's only complaint on it. Also cool it has a regulator on the pump so you can adjust output pressure if u want to in addition to slowing down the engine. The manual is even good, everything worth knowing is on page 1

Upstream injection is before the pump and downstream is after the pump.

When using it, don't let it idle for too long without water going through the pump.

When buying a power washer one of the things to consider is the add ons. For their models, Northern Tools sells sewer jet tips which can be really handy on a clogged line where you can not fit in a mechanical snake. You usually attach them to a special (blue?) hose. I bought some new hose at auction and kept the 1/4" stuff for sewer cleaning purposes. There is a place in Canada that sells anything you could imagine.

Having fixed and disassembled the pumps themselves, I would say to make changing the oil a regular PM thing. The pumps themselves are very expensive with what amounts to a custom crankshaft on the inside to lift/close the values. On one the pump itself was about $400 cheapest I could find two years ago, it was run dry, it was cheaper to go buy a new unit then fix the old one. Spare parts to fix pumps are practically non-existence. Oil is cheap, pumps are not.

I looked up the fittings and hose site, I ordered a special adapter for a gauge for my log splitter, unfortunately I ordered the wrong size :-D Still, service was good.
