Stihl Ultra. The exhaust smell makes me feel manly and it keeps the mosquitos away... Seriously, it doubled my warranty on a new saw years ago and I kept running it since.

Was the VP oil decent? I got a couple small bottles given to me I should use up.

Has anyone used the B3C Ethanol Shield oil? The spec looks good - FD rated, protects against ethanol harm and stabilises fuel mix for up to a year. Sounds ideal for infrequent use.

I talked to a logger last year that had lots of issues running xp + . He went to red armor. I’ve been running xp+ and will be switching after talking to him. My first pick would be Schaffer’s but it’s not available here
Any ideal of what kind of problems the logger had with XP+, a lot of people
use it here and have no issues, I used it, son used it too.

I've switched to Red Armor 40:1. Seems the saws start up easier, even my 088 in the heat.

I got some of this, 2stroke oil from this local company.
It was because Someone recommended there bar oil as it has more tacky stuff in it. It seemed to be very good. So I thought why not try there semi synthetic two stroke

I've used Opti-2 for about 6 years at 45:1. No issues here. The couple saws i've had over this time have looked great internally with minimal carbon build up. And it doesn't have a crazy small to it. I got a 6 pack of HP ultra stihl oil when I bought a 462. I ran that for two gallons of gas. Smelled funny and noticablly more carbon and soot when using the same saws that were used to opti-2.

Long story, but if you want the straight poop a member here did extensive testing to destruction and found amsoil dominator to be the best. Red armor protects well too but may hurt power. Supertech synthetic is probably the best value.
Do we have a link to that thread?
