My best guess is "nothing special, just material savings", but they certainly advertise it as a special design.

I did say that I am guessing, so I have no idea whether or not there is any special benefit from that design.
Sometimes making a product look different than that of Your competitors is "special" enough - a placebo effect of "that looks different" and the neverending human desire to have something others don't.

What I can tell You is that material savings on thousands of those made is huge - steel is heavy and steel alloys are expensive.

Kupiłem nowy przyrząd do czyszczenia rowków i przywiązałem do niego małą jasnożółtą linkę amstalową w daremnym optymizmie, że tym razem uchroni mnie to przed zgubieniem.

Jest wystarczająco długi, aby środek do czyszczenia rowków mógł przejść przez pętlę i przymocować go do paska lub torby. jeszcze to stracę.
