I spent $1345 on all new tie rods, front brake pads/rotors/calipers, a 4wd actuator, and a new HD serp belt for a '98 Ram 2500. Not cheap and not when I wanted to get them, but I've heard rumblings that my parts discount may decrease with the company's merger into a corporation so I decided to just get as much major stuff as I need now.

I'm close to having to do ball joints on my 3rd gen Dodge 2500...not looking forward to that. I've done them before on my previous 3rd gen, but that I was just trying to get that one ready to sell, so I went with el cheapo Moogs. I'll likely be buried in my current 3rd gen, so I'm strongly considering some of those uber-expensive ball joints.

I'll likely do the 4th gen steering linkage conversion at the same time, so I can see how steering components can get expensive on them. Brakes aren't going to be an issue though...with a 6 speed and exhaust brake, my brakes look nearly new at 80k miles.

Nyet. List on what I got is $3415.27, guesstimating it would have been about $2500-$3000 out the door as a walk in. I got a track bar, 4 tie rod ends, 2 sway bar bushing kits, 4 sway bar link kits, 4 control arm bushing kits, 4 ball joints, a serp belt, a tranny rebuild kit + filter, 2 calipers, 2 rotors, a pad set, a 4wd actuator, and $20 of misc smalls.

Bought a new groove cleaner and I spliced a little bright yellow amsteel lanyard on it in futile optimism that it'll prevent me from losing it this time.

It's long enough that the groove cleaner can go through the loop to attach to a belt or bag. I'm still going to lose it.

It's my 4th one, other than a valve adjustment once a year they seem fine.

Where'd you get that and how much $$? I don't like the vacuum setup on Dodges.

Didn't buy it today, but my friend brought it over from the US. Full wrap kit. Huge price difference, otherwise I would have never bought it.

Just wondering why the kit comes with the 2 different bar plates and that you have to remove the plastic chain guides. Anyone knows why that is?

I got them for 2 reasons
One my oem bearings were needing replaced and the lockout hub
Now have serviceable bearings

I got raked over the coals not long ago in another thread mentioning that I use one to clean around the oil cap before removing.
