Thanks for the tips Duce, I got the bar nuts on order, and also got the new ported muffler. Thinking about repairing my melted top cover and getting some "husqvarna orange" paint somehow, then just painting it, and gluing the heat tape to the underside or even aluminum or something like that with an air gap. Other idea is to cut that top cover back and "mod it" so it no longer melts, than rivet some kind of heat deflector shield on the top of it and paint it black, high heat black... keep it simple basically.Put a quality heat tape under that cover and that will help, not the tin foil type. Looks like you are missing a bar nut also.
I am still waiting on a muffler gasket for my 55 in the pictures, Saw is running so I'll pull the muffler when the parts come in and put the new muffler on there and check for temperatures, before and after with my "Performance Tool" Infrared Thermometer.
I'll do a new post on the Muffler Mod and temperature differences with the old muffler, versus the new muffler. Right above the top cover area.
It's the heat difference from old muffler to new muffler that will matter the most, not the actual temperatures... Want to see a big drop in the temperature in the Chain Brake and top cover area with the new muffler!
