Put a quality heat tape under that cover and that will help, not the tin foil type. Looks like you are missing a bar nut also.
Thanks for the tips Duce, I got the bar nuts on order, and also got the new ported muffler. Thinking about repairing my melted top cover and getting some "husqvarna orange" paint somehow, then just painting it, and gluing the heat tape to the underside or even aluminum or something like that with an air gap. Other idea is to cut that top cover back and "mod it" so it no longer melts, than rivet some kind of heat deflector shield on the top of it and paint it black, high heat black... keep it simple basically.

I am still waiting on a muffler gasket for my 55 in the pictures, Saw is running so I'll pull the muffler when the parts come in and put the new muffler on there and check for temperatures, before and after with my "Performance Tool" Infrared Thermometer.

I'll do a new post on the Muffler Mod and temperature differences with the old muffler, versus the new muffler. Right above the top cover area.

It's the heat difference from old muffler to new muffler that will matter the most, not the actual temperatures... Want to see a big drop in the temperature in the Chain Brake and top cover area with the new muffler!

I've even seen sheet metal attached to the muffler cover with rivets

Some S 1773-Y68R paint. Hopefully it really is recognizably different than orange used in Waiblingen. If so my friend will sh*t his pants.

I hit the jackpot yesterday, found this for 19.99$ plus shipping...(almost as much as for the tool). This is the good one with the vacuum pressure lever and the good gauge...
Check out the video, it's almost the same unit but I didn't get the kit, just the pump and gauges as in the pictures...

A new upper left control arm for muh truck :(

I'm amazed I got this much time on it without wrecking the wheel bearing.

Just window shopping Bill !! That 9420 is 20yrs old already. It’s practically a steam engine at this point. I bet it’d drag that 8rx backwards like it’s not even there lol.

The sales guy is trying his best to get us into a 7r250 or so and I told him to bring one out with a baler hooked to it so I could demo them both this summer in the meadow. He stuck out his hand and said “If you can find two other guys to demo it as well you have a deal and we’ll supply you each with a roll of net wrap”. Can’t argue with that and I found two other guys before I left his office. Looking forward to it !!

Ordered a couple of sets of husky screwdrivers just to find out they ruined them
They have a two piece handle now instead of the good solid rubber one's
Got a 200ft roll of trueblue

I stopped window shopping. It makes me cry. Years ago I used to go to the Farm Progress Show and tell my sons to get in different equipment to see what they might be able to afford when it is totally outdated and 40 years old.

Think about the reality of that though. In 1982 the list price on a John Deere 4640 was around $50,000. Now go look at what used ones are selling for 42 years later...............

nice you will not regret that purchase. hopefully it gets shipped to you without any damage
Generally things arrived good when..........
You use a double wall box the proper size
Double bag the item
Apply20 layers of shrink wrap
Pack well all voids with crushed farm papers and extra cardboard.
If in doubt use a can of spray foam
Use a hot glue gun or PL200 to glue all flaps shut
DO not use PL200 on overseas shipments.
Tape the box to withstand a Hiroshima type attack.

Ask @jblnut about how I pack.
