Not sure what you meant then. No, that's not it
There is so much wasted. I go to every scrapyard I pass and I used to work rain days and Saturdays at a scrapyard. I have pulled so much out to save but there’s so much that gets destroyed.I could never work in a scrapyard. I would cry like a baby. My son and I were hauling a lot of pure scrap in years ago when the price was way up. We were behind a guy that had an Allis Chalmers D17 tractor with AC 500 loader and a wide front. What an idiot!! We had to wait while he jacked it up and took the rear tires off. Without the tires it would be under 3 ton. He could have doubled his money selling it outright. Hell we personally saw folks driving running vehicles in for scrap.
That vise was one of the original vises used from when the yard opened. I got it at the shut down. I work on equipment at some yards so I get the after hours access. Most of the good stuff came from the yard that closed down. The guys saved bicycles, tools and small engine stuff for me. Another guy had a good eye for antiques and whatever he didn’t want he saved for me. I could go in Saturday afternoon and have full access. The crv got hauled in with a torn off front wheel. I drove that thing everywhere but I think my new idler failed and it keeps throwing off the serpentine belt. The truck was side swiped and ended up being the worst vehicle I’ve ever owned and I should have let it get crushed. The yards here do not sell to folks. I have hauled loads in that they grabbed directly and dropped in the shredder.
That vise was a nice save!
Some $15 trinkets again
