China 90* foredom attachment.
A Foredom clone should be here tomorrow.

I've got one of those. It's easy to get chatter going with it. It could be my cutters though. But so far that 90 is the only one that does it. The gears sound dry, might take it apart and add some grease. Mines the black version.
Has anyone got a thread started about those Chinese 90 degree cutter heads?
Sloppy teeth fittment, dry/sloppy bearings , bad vibration/balance issues, etc?
(thanks Powerstroke Cowboy, for your mention of what you've noticed)

I've seen them listed with prices ranging from under $50 to well over $100.
Aliexpress and Ebay, etc. Prices may be higher since I last looked though.

I got that one for $45 off of amazon.
The Vevor branded foredom FR clone is stuck at a distribution center in California literally going back and forth. So I probably will either have to cancel the order or just sit and see if it makes it out of there.
So I have no way of testing it yet.

I paid 41.88 for mine off Ebay. It feels tight, but time will tell how well it holds up. I still think my chatter is coming from a combination of my cutter and how the pressure is applied with a 90 vs a strait tool. The cutter does not chatter on a strait tool, even in my dremal that has slop it does not chatter.

The chinese contra heads on Shaun’s hand-pieces get sloppy and chatter more over time. I’m guessing the chinese 90degree has similar plastic bushings that wear out with use. I think you’re right that the burr makes a big difference. Single cut spiral burrs will cut a lot smoother than a double or straight tooth burr.

I can’t recommend Shaun’s hand-pieces enough. The heads cost $10-15 and can be swapped in about a minute. Latch style burrs are incredibly inexpensive and great for detail work. IIRC, he also retro-fits the chinese 90s with tighter more durable internals.

I'd also like to see the difference in dimensions between the Chinese 90 and Shaun's 90. The one I have with the bit I used just about was to big for a 44mm bore.

I would love one of Shaun’s units, but for the amount of porting I do, I can't justify the cost. Although, I do have 5 saws to port.

Seems like I saw someone mention that the head size varied a bit, depending on how it was made.
apologies that I cant recall where I saw it or who posted the info.

Does it look like you could shave a bit off of the body in order to get in a smaller cylinder?
Yeah, it weakens the body, but it might be worth it at the price of the unit?

Has anyone looked into opening (drilling?) through to/out of the back of the head and slipping a left hand cutter in and clamping the burr tail in the collet?

I have been thinking about taking some measurements and seeing if there's room to machine the head smaller. There definitely some play room with the price.

My powerhead has a reverse switch. So I have no need to run a cutter in through the back.

I got the power unit in. I had a junked 661 cylinder that I could test it out on.

The head of the 90 does make it tricky getting into the corners of the ports. Making it really dependent on the shape of the bit and how exactly the cylinder is being positioned. It's workable, but not ideal.

The fitment on mine was pretty good. Though I stuffed the inside with a ptfe based grease that I mixed with HBN. (Hex boron nitride). There's no real concerning noise or chatter really from it.

If I was working on a 4 stroke head this would probably do really well.

Mixing HBN with your grease is a great idea! That stuff is slick. I just started coating my bullets with HBN.

Now picture that head in a 44mm bore. It's tight!

When I do up a revolver action it's usually what I put in them 😂. Yeah. I don't see myself using it in anything smaller.

Soo uhh, I ordered some rakers gauges I had been looking at for a while they came in, so now I can add them to the collection of what my dad sent me for Christmas 🤣🤣.

On side note, a joint effort so I got word my nephew is digging through the earth with his Christmas present. Got him one of those remote control excavators and he's digging up his grandparents garden. I'll have to find the time and excuse to stop by with a little 12k model and let him run it.

Dual cylinder 12v air compressor IMG_20231224_124840.jpg
Actually pumped up much faster than any car pump I've used and faster than my electric air Compressor
I'm buying a couple more for different vehicles.
