I went with this setup about 2 years ago. Works good. You can use regular cylinders, but without the vent to purge gas while filling ya don't get a complete fill.

You shouldn't fill the cylinder completely

These aren't a regular disposable 1lb cylinder. You can get a full 1lb fill on these. They are designed for it - "Flame King refillable propane tanks are the only 1lb tanks Certified by the DOT as legally and lawfully refillable and transportable."

We fill gas by weight, leaving some space in the tank here at my place in Europe

Cool?......but you are missing the point - this product allows you to FULLY fill their refillable tanks because they have a built in dip tube and vapor valve. When we say FULLY filled - we meant 80% of tank volume. Which is the legal limit full fill amount for any LP tank 1lb, 5lb, 20lb, ect. Disposable or not.

It's hard to safely fully fill (80%) the disposable 1lb tanks, and not to mention illegal to transport.

Guess I should have said good fill not FULL. Yes those flame king cylinders have an fill/overfull port. When you have that vent screw open ya stop filling liquid when it starts to spit liquids. Close the valve with the allen screw and your about RTU.I may have skipped a couple of steps , so don't get to nit-picky technical . . . jsns

From memory these anvils are a different length to the modern ones, and difficult to find. You can cut the modern ones down to make them fit though.

Edit: I just found a place that still sells them. Not cheap though.

It wasn't today, but I picked up 20-30 K&N oil filters on clearance for $3-5 apiece, and two air filters for the Dodge for ~$25 apiece. I also bought a Maxflow for the 500i since I don't like the HD2 setups and picked up a filter cage for 660 #2. I'm really diggin Maxflow's new option where you can pick 1 green 1 white, 2 white, or 2 green elements for your kit.

They are defiantly worth it, I used the HD2 on it for a while and I was constantly banging it out or throwing in another one.

This one got a little extra nasty a couple weeks ago.
