I bought it for $30, later I had to replace the piston for $50 and clean the cylinder, and now the filter housing and 2 filters also cost $50 Mcculloch Elite 2.210

I bought the sad remains of a 565 from 2018.

Looks like it was used hard without any maintenance. The air filter was completely clogged.

But has done a fairly good job of keeping fines out.

So it was described as 'locked up' and I expected it to be completely seized. But the crank will turn about 350 degrees either way, with compression. But the piston will not pass TDC. Has it eaten a ring? I checked the clutch side and cannot see anything jamming there. Will investigate further tomorrow.

I found out why the piston will not pass TDC. Ouch!

Ouch! I would love to know the back story on this one.

The owner said it just 'locked-up' on him one day. Presume it failed from being run hard without any maintenance. And possibly not the best 2T oil.

I paid £100 ($124) for it. If the cylinder will clean up I am OK. If not I might just get my money back by breaking it for parts.

Yea. I can see why it locked up. 😆 maybe a combo of to lean on gas and oil.

I would love to see if you could clean that cylinder up. Just going by what can be seen of the piston I would say there's a LOT of aluminum transfer.

Stihl 028 woodboss. He said it was running but cut out when given throttle. Offered him €100 over the phone which he accepted. Got there and it wouldn't start. Offered him €75, he agreed. Took it home, adjusted the carb and she fired right up. It will rev up but can be a challenge, hopefully carb kit will fix that issue. Piston is a little scored. It also has an old Duromatic bar.
