Slow 288XP Build...

100% right steve, there was an earlier oil pump fust shield thingy, later ones just had a bigger worm gear i think

The holes for said worm gear are different as well. All I know is that you need to stick with the same stuff, no mixing and matching going on.

Closer in kin than say a 55 and a 61, which may look very similar from 10' are actually quite different!

There is a part on the 281 oil pump that pops out to use the 288 worm gear! Pics when I get home!

Yes the rest of it crumbled in my hand. That's why I ordered a new one from @definitivedave along with the Am clutch.

I traded my perfect condition 346NE for my 288...no regrets. I have a 357XP so the 346 sat around a lot. But that is very much a too each their own situation.
