I bought a Silvey HD6 many years ago from Silvey when they first came out, they are a sweet tool. Really nice when doing 157dl long bar loops. I use the chain stop on mine when doing gullets they keep you from nicking the front of the tooth they are the best gullet grinder out there very fast. If you have a high raker chain to do make sure and follow how they do it in the Youtube video. Take the rakers down in several passes or you will burn them and make it hard on ever filing them. Things get interesting when working on short tooth chains be careful...

Man oh man, I need to stop secretly coming to this thread, and stay in my round grinder world LOL.....I like to come look at this thread and see the square grind machines, and the pics of the cutters they create....square grinding creates a sweet looking cutter, let alone how well they cut!!!!!

As many of you know i just have an Oregon 520 grinder.....I have been getting some great results on semi and full chisel chains with it......I would absolutely love to get a square grinder, but in reality no one around me uses square ground....I would just be doing my own chains.......I also cut strictly hardwood, but I have heard guys say they use square in hardwood too.....

Well anyway, keep posting the pics when you get time guys, I always stop in to see the absolutely perfect looking square ground chains you guys produce.....

Keep up the great work!!!!!!!

I want to square grind, I just don't need to get one right now.....I have been obsessively rebuilding/selling saws here lately, and I just may keep saving my profit money aside, and buy one when I get enough saved(or magically come across a stellar deal!!!).....if I did get one it would be totally for fun/hobby around here....if you would ask someone locally if they wanted a square grind on their chain, they would look at you funny, and quickly grab their chains never to return agian lol....

You know I do/have cut a lot of wood, but I still have NOT ever ran a square ground chain...

In your opinion @Icepick69 (I am picking on you here), which square grinder do you personally like the best, or which one do you find your self using the most....

What I like, someone else mite not like as much. Reckon it's just what you get comfortable with running.
I have a rs2 that I'll sell, but after the updated roller kit gets made for it. Or if someone would like it now, I would sell it and ship the kit when I get it.
Personally I like the rs2.

I can get a good sharp tooth, the rakers are what cause my chains to be inconsistent. (Anthony's are SWEET) I need to work on that for sure. Wish I had a good vise from homelite410...

Use your grinder. Either with the 1/4 wheel provided, or just hold them up to the wheel and eye it. I did that for years. And the rakers looks awesome doing it that way. One word of advise tho. Practice, you will want to take to much off. It doesn't take much.

This way will give you a very nice looking grind and you can go the complete radius of the depth guage. Looks better then a machined raker.
Just be careful, (YOU WILL WANNA TAKE TO MUCH OFF)
