I think finding a good balance between hook AND raker makes for a great cutting work chain.
Just me. I go by feel.
agree. i file everything and sometimes you get a dud haha. semi chisel is still hard for me sometimes, depending on how the corner is chamfered. some are rounded, some have two distinct "chamfers" on the corner. full chiz is much easier for me to get to cut well reliably.

I'm always wondering why factory new chains have all these weird points and ridges, as opposed to one solid, smooth curve with suitable (not too much, not too little) hook. Same as why there is a mm or so between the interior part of the side plate and the gullet.
