Yeah I would have got a ms241 but like ya say ya can't get em anymore.
And yeah as far as muff mods go my main goal is not increasing decibels I hate loud saws!..
I do too. Can't stand an obnoxious saw screaming at me all day. I wish I could figure out how to make ported saws even quieter than stock.

Ear plugs with ear muffs, problem solved, lol.
I've Worked in the timber industry for a good 30 years or so and have always wore hearing protection and yet I still have hearing damage!
I personally cannot fathom how people are running ridiculously stupid loud bark boxed ram horn double barrel muff mod equipped saws nowadays and not going insane or deaf at minimum! lol

Most people don’t realize that when you exceed 100db for 8hrs, you need double hearing protection. Some of the ported saws I run are way beyond 110db, so the double hearing protection is mandatory even for shorter exposure times.

My loudest saw is an Asian MS660 big bore. It is the only saw my neighbors complain about when I mill wood.

I tried to put a different muffler on it, but it lost power fast, must be the way it is ported.

I mostly just mill with my worked over MS660s (both Asian and OEM, or mixes of both). I have an OEM with Cross jug, and an Asian with an OEM jug! They run well, so I leave em alone!

I have gotten the most complaints when I bring out one of my Mac’s for some cutting.
Sounds about like one of my sand cast Poulans.

When my dad started out running saws for a living he didn't wear hearing protection he's as deaf as a post now days. ya can't have a conversation with him if doesn't have his hearing aids in.
When I go visit him I can hear the TV driving up his driveway he has the bloody TV on Max volume! 😆

I stopped watching TV years ago because I can't hear well enough.
