Yeah I’m thinking about getting a square grinder. No one doing it over here yet. That’s just Stihl RS straight out the box. It’s only done a few cuts.

That will do it! I'd start with that RS and drop the rakers a couple swipes at a time.

That saw is probably a bit too powerful for stock .325 chain. I’d step up to a 8 pin rim .325 or convert it to run conventional 3/8 7 pin.

Any 50cc saw that is ported or has mods done and run .325 chain should run with an 8 pin rim. OR bump up to 3/8.

I run a ported 261 all the time with a 7 pin rim on .325

What makes you say that ? - just curious ?

All things being equal a 357xp is way stronger than a ms261. It’s almost a 60cc saw. Not really fair to compare it to a 261 imho.

No doubt about it, but he said 50cc which I guess technically a 357 is in that class.

.325 doesn't clear chips that great to begin with and an 8pin just makes that worse. I've tried it a few times stripping trees of their limbs and it worked good but when it was time to buck I saw no advantage to a bigger rim, especially in softer wood where the kerf packs up.

went all winter with 8 pin and sthil 23 rs and it bucked great but now when wood is melted and soft it just keeps packing. pine is worst with 8 pin rim.

Pine is absolutely the worst, I agree.

I'm just not a fan of bigger rims for how I use chainsaws.

To each their own. Try the 8 pin. You might like it.
7 pin is for a stock saw. The extra power you have must bounce off the limiter constantly.
I guess it matters on how one tunes the chain to the wood. I file my .325 to cut aggressively. Definitely not a stock .325 chain.
No issues at all with chip clearance. I primarily cut hard wood. Very rarely if ever cut soft woods like pine.

I have tried it. It doesn't even come close to bouncing off the limiter, even with an untouched chain.

I'm not sure then Ryan. For me and my 026 and 261cm, I run 8 pin rims with .325 chain.
If the 7 pin works better for you then run it. I'm sure you know what works best for you.
