No Oaks near my Aunt + Uncle's old farm (now my cousins) in upstate NY either. Years ago my brother and I brought some up for my cousin to plant so he could see what we were talking about! I think the winters there get so tough they don't make acorns.

Mostly Hard Maple, Elm and Beech up there, but the Elms are disappearing. They used to have huge ones! The also have Ash, Black Cherry, Butternut and lots of Apple.
