You can't discount the ported saw until you try it Wilhelm!
Like trying a new food. Can't say you don't like it until you at least try it. Then, and only then can you make a fair and accurate assessment and decision.
Mason, you know ported saws are much more fun to run.
Come on now.
All saws get carb limit delete/mm at the very least here ;)

They are really over rated and stuff. I'll gladly just take a saw or a good Ax that cuts wood!

Trees laughed so hard at dem Hooskies. Wasn't until we brought out the Stihl's that the trees got scared and lost their leaves.

Yeah, but nothing like the full spa treatment though. [emoji106]
Spent a few years running my 394 with a slightly widened ex port, BGD and DP muffin'. In all honesty, it was stupid power. Plenty even for the mill, at 50" b/c. Got the extra money saved up and called up Shaun. Un effing real! Until someone experiences the spa they really don't have a clue.

For the dozen or so cuts I made in the dark it felt really good! Saw feels very strong! Cant wait to get some time on it.
Sounds good to me.
The neighbors are probably wondering what's that Dan guy doing in the woodshed with a chainsaw this late .

It's just about that feeling of cutting with that ported piece. You won't really understand until you run one or own one.
To me makes cutting wood much more pleasurable! Not even like work.

It's dangerous! I remember my first contact with ported saws.... mostly, after a few cuts, you simply can't go back, your normal saw life is over!

Picked up my 346 on Sunday! Finally got to rub it tonight.

still love the 346's, one of the best saw's ever, kicked a lot of 026/260 butt's back then

Yep, times are changing, in this decade Stihl is leading the pack technologically with the new lighter weight and injection saws. Like Husqvarna in the 90's and early 00's with the 2/3 series (5xx saws are a special story).

Both are not bad, personal preferences are also very important. Handles, balance and handling especially.
