Just curious what do you mean remove the steel lip? Just learning here :)
"Steep" you mean?
Most transfer ports at the bottom have a very steep entry lip for the charge to enter the port, its simply lessening the angle so the charge has an easier route into the port.
Here's a before & after picture of a 3120xp cylinder,to give you a better understanding.

You have that 084 chained very well.
I remember when i got the 084 back from you, I asked what all you did to it because it had awoken considerably.
You told me "not much because an 084 doesn't need much, it just needs it in the right places" :D
The difference between the saw back then and now is about 2 tanks of fuel, a ten pin rim, a velocity stack, about a 1/3 of a turn on the H, a good bar, a great chain and a lot of practice and watching the videos to see how and why i suck and how to suck less, which is the whole secret to racing according to @Hedgerow.
It hasn't had any other work to saw or carb, it still has the stock choke :)
I love running this saw.

For those of you who don't check in to the NY GTG thread, this is one of my favorite ass-kickings of the day.

Right! Hardly an ass kicking, but Brett knows a two or thing about a saw race dot dot dot
