We sure had a little fun today. Big McCulloch day for a round of saws that need a little bench time tlc.View attachment 55461 View attachment 55465
I'll be posting videos of those saws as I go.

I also put a few runs on the 064 pipe saw to clean out the cobwebs. I strapped up a 3/8 .063 with a 9-pin rim.

That's a nice PM850, looking forward to see what you do with it :)

sometimes that saw keeps me awake at night,,,

Always liked that Makita blue color.
As a builder, could you share with us common folk how the 9010 stacks up against the 390xp,661cm, and the 395xp. In terms of quality, performance, operating experience?

THANKS in advance.
It's very well built, reminds me of a stihl.
Power wise the 661 and 395 will be ahead of it but not because it's not as strong it's just a different kind of strong,it has just as much power it just lacks the rpm/chain speed of a 661 or 395.
There's people who prefer this style of saw over the higher rpm saws.

It handles well but is quite heavy, probably close to the 395 just going by feel.
Very solid feel,it's rubber instead of Springs and is t27 like a stihl and has molded fuel line.

It's not limited as far as I can tell.

I'm comparing saws that I ported so another guy may have different results.

I can't stress enough how simple and we'll built the 9010 is,I keep saying this but everytime I port or run one of these new dolmar/makita saws I like them more.
7910 is becoming one of my favorite saws

that's at least the second time I have seen you post that recently. :beer-toast1:

Is it the extra stroke that has it build power lower in the rpm?
It will turn rpm,it 4 strokes nicely at 14k but the long stroke worries me that fast.

It's stronger under a hard load at a lower rpm.

Long stroke lends itself to lower rpm power yes.

The specs I came up with on a MS 660 are 92 cc, 7 Hp, and 16.5 lbs. So basically, the 9010 is a heavier version?
