That would be like needing to change the balance on your tires for each gear you use.

Not sure I follow. I was like drf256 and was comparing to a car or bike engine.

I was referring to the balance of a chainsaw crank and comparing it to the balance of a car tire. Then thinking of different piston sizes relating them to different gears. A simple analogy that isn't common slang or easily understood by normal people because that's the way my stupid mind tries to work most of the time.

They do it a lot more than you think. Just expensive to do.

I have a 2mm stroker crank in my redline boat motor but there's kits for that. I mostly noticed out of the hole torque with it.

Yes. Just a lot of work to clearance the case and all of that fun. Then a spacer plate to take care of the extra stroke. Figure $600 to do it to at a minimum.

I put a 40mm stroker in my 288; it really likes to wind, has more of that hotrod feel, but timed cuts are about the same. I need to get back into it and do some porting.

Well I really don't have any "nice" videos of it, that's why I haven't posted any! It's kinda been a disappointment, I just have to get back in it and figure out what to do with the ports.

Here it is with .015 out of chamber and a base gasket, squish is .015, and ports are untouched. The muffler has an enlarged outlet, and the ignition timing is advanced 12 degrees.

Oh? So why do they shake so bad then?!! I've heard that a bunch of the Huskys, and a few of the newer Stihls even have anti-vibration systems fitted to them.

I'd rather think a chainsaw crank is unbalanced, regardless of piston bore. The crank lobes are just for momentum to keep it turning through the power stroke

I hear that! Ran my 10mm 044 while I grilled and wouldn't stay running. Carb kit came yesterday so next time I run it it will be better! I'll add a video once I upload it.

I wonder if the dry air has anything to do with bad tuning? My diesel loves moist, dense air to get max power. Not sure if 2 strokes like the same.

A saw is balanced at a certain rpm.

Cut the counter weight off the flywheel and see if it makes a difference.

The piston has no affect on the balance of the rotating Assembly.
It's balanced with no piston or a 10lb one.
The piston goes back and forth not around.

The 661 didn't like the cold weather
It ran and started fine but had 3/4 of its normal power.
