Nice vid Jason. Looks like your going to have to find a helluva saw to beat that 661. Yeti ain't no slouch and can't keep up
I like how these 661's run as good as any saw I've ported, they never struggle.

There one fantastic saw and I think it will be a very long time before stihl tops it or replaces it for that matter

Your 066 is a very nice saw,I love the heated handles which work awesome by the way. It runs good also, those are it's first cuts so it's only at 13.5

We need to have Eric teach you how to be a member of the piss rev mafia. Lol
Saw runs real nice Doc.
The 036's idle better than the 026's?
Cuts real well too.
You know I love 026's Jeff, but an 036 is built a bit better and is only a pound or 2 heavier. Of all the Stihl models, I feel it's the most compact for the power it can make.

It does idle better and has better throttle response than the 026 does. Seems like they were limited by space on the 026 and did what they could.

I like both saws. Both @Canadian farm boy and @dall have an 026 and 036 I've built. I'd be interested in which saw they grab first when they actually need to go do some work. That's what really matters. I have an 026/036/064/066 in my garage. The 026/036 are what I grab 99% of the time if a tree goes down. I wanna build the Saw you grab first, not necessarily the fastest one.

CFB, Dall and StihlSmoking 036 are ported 3 different ways. I'm doing another for Dall the way I did StihlSmoking's. I'm interested in how they cut side by side.

I have a nice 026 that I ported and it goes hard but in the timber we have here it lacks something, I don't even take it with me any more.

I have an 036 I am rebuilding so will give that a go. I have a good feeling the extra cc's will give me a smaller saw that can handle cutting the timber I cut

I like a 036 much more than a 026,there's a huge difference in power for little difference in weight.

When I use a saw for what it's meant for "work" I use a stock 562xp,it's light and very powerful for its size and handles like no other.

i use my 026 on small stuff and my 036 for anything bigger than 8 to 10 inch the 036 is very strong .i had them at the gtg and had my 036 ran against other saws after the races was done and a few ran it earlier in the day @Hedgerow @Redbull661 @Onan18 can we get your opinion of the 036

That 036 was snappy.
I think it would make a dandy work saw.

I've got one of Al's .026's, and have run his 036/360s at GTGs. They are both great, but different saws for different purposes.

I call the 026 my Lightning Limber! If I have a lot of small limbing to do (under 8") it is what I will grab every time, but as a general fire wood saw, the 036 has far more power and is faster in the larger stuff, and you can lean on it more (ditto my 362, but the 036 is a little lighter & faster). But the 362 has spring AV, MTronic, and better air filtration.

When I helped my brother clear some lanes to survey, the 026 was the only one to have. A lot of reaching and cutting small stuff, but I also dropped and bucked a few decent size trees with it. That is what is nice about Al's ported 026 is there is not much penalty for using the saw "out of it's range".

The saw you choose will always depend on what you have to cut, and where you have to go to cut it! If you have to go up & down hills, over rock walls, and through thick tangles, all day long, lighter is always better. My brother used his MS 241 that day, and also loved it.

The 026 is also great to keep on the ATV if you don't expect to do any heavy duty cutting, but if I'm going off into the woods to cut some firewood (up at my property, which has been logged and usually less than 20" trees) I will generally pack the 362 and 440. There is just not much that 2 saw combo can't handle, and handle well. With trees under 20", you just don't need the ported 460s, and the rough terrain makes the lighter saws more desirable.

If I had heavy equipment to bring the logs to me, I would choose different saws!

That 036 was impressive, so impressive that I am currently looking for one to have Doc do up. For a firewood saw it don't think it could be beat.

@jmssaws

Jason: I know that you switched a few carbs on 661's and went Mtronic to conventional on the 661, but just curious if you tried to put an Mtronic on a 660?
