It's on the limiter,it's got a very different sound to it and that's what it sounds like to me.
I've been looking for something in these saws and I found some of it today.

I don't think the coil is limited,I think the carb is.
I have no idea what rpm it stops at because my tach won't read it

I and several others have put a standard carb on one and there's a significant gain in rpm but the 4 or 5 times I've ran the regular vs mtronic the mtronic is always ahead so I see no point in it.

Others have gotten gains from it.

Hope that's the case. I like the 250's better than the 251's we'll see I guess

agree even though the air filters stay cleaner on the 251's i have yet to run the newer stuff.

The new anti vib feels smooth and power is the same. It does use less fuel also but you really have to let it warm up. It skips and bucks til you get some heat in it. Not sure why you hear the chain on the bar more make it sound cheaper. But it's a good saw

The 661 should adjust for timing and fuel depending on rpm and load. So it should feel like it has a wide power band. Is that how it feels when you push on it some? You got the airfilter cover modded on the lower right?
