661 was definitely faster.
The 661 is exactly how it came from the factory, all it has done to it is a bunch of grinding here and there in the cylinder. The 661 should adjust for timing and fuel depending on rpm and load. So it should feel like it has a wide power band. Is that how it feels when you push on it some? You got the airfilter cover modded on the lower right?

500 rpm to slow and a half turn farther out on the low than it needs to be and still is hungry at the end of that cut.I believe that the 661 is stronger but not by as much as it looks, the 394 is tuned 500 rpm to slow but it's the only way I could keep fuel to it in a minute long cut.
Tuned any faster than 13k it will start running out half way through.
I was going to say...if it is it isn't tuned like it was. It seemed like it come out of the cut a little skinny.Yeh.
It's tuned at 13k
I tried it at 13.5 and it kept running out of gas in that long cut.
Why would a Saw tuned leaner run out of fuel faster than a Saw tuned richer?I believe that the 661 is stronger but not by as much as it looks, the 394 is tuned 500 rpm to slow but it's the only way I could keep fuel to it in a minute long cut.

Could the compression of your 394 be causing it to lean out with long cuts?
14k, idling a little under 3k. Perfect!!Real nice! Runs strong, idles well. Cuts well. Great worksaw. Another MOFO Worksaw!
I saw you with what looked to be a tach. What were the RPM'S?
That ash log was stone dead last summer when that tree was cut. Rock hard and frozen.Real nice! Runs strong, idles well. Cuts well. Great worksaw. Another MOFO Worksaw!
