My 066 with 288 piston running a very aggressive square file chain done by @Deets066
Timber is dead, dry stringy bark. Not the hardest timber we have in oz but it makes great firewood. Just looked it up and its rated harder than oak and about 10% harder than black locust
I had a temporary blank in the front opening on the triple port muffler making it dual side port only. As it melted out, I had to touch up the tune. Something more permanent will be going in before its run again.

Im gonna go back in this one and make a couple small changes too.

Same saw ripping some posts

Did you get much time on the chain?

If so then how did it last?

About a tank and a half mate.
It then proceeded to win me race after race after race buried balls deep and i was cutting the thick part of the log ha ha.

Once I get on top of the stockpile of saws I need to rebuild, I will spend some time using the chain to learn the angles. I'm sold on the idea.
I had some really hooky round file 3/8 chain on my 044 that cut as fast but went off the boil on the 2nd tank. your chain was still hauling ass!

Here is the chain that was on my 044

404 should last real good, squaring it up makes it much more usable IMO
Yeah it was fast but not as grabby.
I have bought a roll of that chain....... I like it and even though 404 is not as fast, I like how it holds up in our hardwood here

Take a look at Randy's gtg thread in two weeks.
Gunna be lots of fast 404 for the chain race.

Every time I've entered a buildoff, I was happy if I didn't come in last place. To put my saw or chain up against the guys that were doing this stuff when I first showed up is a huge honor. Winning ain't even a thought.........I'm just happy to be playing in the same arena.

Just finished off rebuilding an 038 Magnum that my mate found at the rubbish dump.
Looked to have had a tree fall on it, all but the case and motor was busted.
Full case split rebuild, ported, muffler mod including ditching the baffle....... all Chinese bits used but motor and case is OEM

A buit lean at 15200 RPM but 4 strokes hard at 14500

Wish I could have gotten ahold of a 28' .404 bar. This noob wanted to give it a go...but wanted to test out different tweaks as I progressed. Filing noob here...lol

How is the 261 different from the 260 other than the obvious slightly larger piston and Mtronic carb?
