Higher…..as in more swipes or less swipes? Can’t really tell if you’re pushing it or holding up on it.

What did you end up doing for a carburetor? Did that one I sent you work?
Less swipes. Chain wasn't as smooth as I like. Fed and cut fine just a little harsh for square.
I put the original Walbro carb back on the HU saw. I gave up on that Zama. I'll bring it this weekend. Maybe you can find a fix but I gave up.

Ahh. Yeah I forgot you were running square. I think I’ve gotten used to making my round chains a little bit too aggressive. They cut pretty quick but they do throw me around a little bit.

Right after I sent that carb to you I tried one on a 7900 and it failed also. I believe now that they were all either factory defects or they sat so long that the brass corroded in the idle mix jets.

What jet comes in a HD-50?

You really only need to richen it if it will not adjust.

Both my ported hybrids are running 70 jet carbs, but I think the HD-50s have different circuitry.

I have an HD-50 on my ported 460, and it loves it, but none of my other saws liked it!!! I can't figure it out, I just try to go with what works!
I removed the limiters and gave it a try with the original jet and it's good without changing it to the .68 jet. It's tuned a little past the what the limited coil will show on the tac, I think I'm going to swap an unlimited coil off one of my other saws, tune it and the put the limited one back on it. I just don't trust myself tuning it in wood without knowing for sure that I'm not tuning it to lean.

461, I put a coil from a 440 on it and re-tuned it, it ended up at 13,850 RPM WOT. I think I'll richen it up a bit more before I put the 461 coil back on it. Weird carb, I was at 12,300 WOT RPM, at turning it around 1 turn out the RMP only came up a couple hundred then less than a 1/4 turn more and I was at 14,200.

Coil from a 440 should not work on a 461 with the poly flywheel.

288 needed more air after ported. Gained 1,000 rpm in the cut just pokin a few holes in the rear of the cover real quick. View attachment 336245

Liking this. I have a 288 to do soon, might give it a try. I’ve wondered about holes in the 372 high top with a stack filter.

Was the carb weird to tune before you swapped the coil?
